Richmond, Va., October 6, 2008 -- Hirschler Fleischer announces the formation of a new litigation practice area, the "Catastrophic Injury Group." The group, consisting of experienced trial attorneys Mahlon G. ("Bud") Funk, Jr., W. Brian McCann, and Jacqueline C. Hedblom, and paralegal Abigail Davis-Hess, will represent plaintiffs in cases involving complex, high-value medical malpractice, products liability, automobile injury, premises liability and other personal injury, including wrongful death actions. "This is an area I have practiced in for many years, the difference now is that we have a dedicated practice group, focusing its knowledge, resources and time toward specialization in these sophisticated cases," notes Bud Funk.

Bud, a shareholder and principal of the group, has over 30 years' trial experience in federal and state courts, and received the first seven-figure medical malpractice verdict in the Richmond area and second in Virginia. Brian, who received his J.D. from William and Mary in 2003, recently joined the firm, bringing with him significant trial experience. Jacqueline joined Hirschler Fleischer's litigation section upon graduating from the University of Richmond School of Law in 2004, and has handled a wide variety of litigation matters, with a focus on personal injury and medical malpractice.
